DIPOMO – Dicionário do Português de Moçambique, is the first Portuguese dictionary written and edited in an African country’.
It follows the construction and publication, in 2014, of the Vocabulário Ortográfico Moçambicano da Língua Portuguesa – VOMOLP (Mozambican Spelling Vocabulary of the Portuguese Language), a resource that allowed for the description of Mozambican Portuguese (MP) alongside other varieties, from a non-contrastive perspective and thus providing the country with a first large-scale linguistic resource. VOMOLP is an integral part of the Common Orthographic Vocabulary of the Portuguese Language (VOC), which includes vocabularies from other Portuguese-speaking countries.

Capulana (PT = saia típica das mulheres / EN = typical women’s skirt).
Cocuana (PT = pessoas idosas / EN = elderly people).
Desconseguir (PT = não conseguir / EN = be unable).
Mamana (PT = mulher casada, com filhos / EN = married woman, with children).
Maningue (PT = muito, com grande intensidade / EN = a lot, with great intensity).
Mataco (PT = traseiro, nádegas / EN = ass, buttocks).
Mafuna (PT = rapaz / EN = boy).
Moleque (PT = miúdo, brincalhão / EN = kid, playful).
Quiosque (PT = barracas onde se vende tudo e qualquer coisa / EN = stalls where you can sell anything and everything).
