A well-balanced person has a far greater ability to focus their attention and energy on attaining their goals, taking productive actions, and moving forward in a meaningful way. A healthy life balance is not only essential for happiness and well-being; it can be a tremendous boost to your productivity and career or business success as well.
Work life balance may have a different meaning in everyone’s life. To understand it better, consider all the things that are important to you. For example, work, friends, family, time you spend on hobbies, interests, etc.
There is a fine line of demarcation between personal and professional life. When you are able to bring an equilibrium between both sides, you get a perfect work life balance. It is a simple attitude towards your life where none of these sides supersedes the other when it comes to prioritization.
It is important to have a work life balance since it allows you to enjoy every moment of your being. You are left with enough time and energy for work, family, friends, me-time, or anything else that’s important to you! You get to enjoy everything and be happy with a proper work life balance!
1- Take more rejuvenation days. Take some time out from work.
2- Let go of fear. Many people worry that if they are not working, or seen to be working every day, they may miss out on something important, or the business may fail, or they may not get that promotion. There is a sense that something bad could happen.
3- Prioritize your day. Don’t have 10 things on your list to complete that day. Focus on achieving just 3 or 5 important things every day.
4- Express gratitude for what you have. Try giving thanks for three things at the end of every day and see how this shifts your mood and mind-set.
5- Learn to say NO. Have the self-respect, confidence, and courage to live life on your own terms and say yes only to the things that really matter. For everything else, start saying NO.
6- Have more fun. Jump into new things and new relationships. Take some risks, try something new, learn a new skill. Get out of your comfort zone and having more fun keeps you energized and motivated.
7- Start a journal. Create a place (journal) to house your dreams, your creative thoughts, and your thinking tools. It’s a place to escape every day, even if it just for five minutes.
8- Create one hour a day to think and relax. Often is heard, “I don’t have time”. How about changing that mind-set and start dedicating one hour a day to yourself? One hour to work on yourself. One hour for reading. One hour to learn a new skill.
9- Do one thing you love to do every day. One of the best ways to bring more balance back into your life is to recommit to do the things that give you the most pleasure. This could be reading, walking, meditating, gardening etc.
10- Create more family time. Family dinners and children bedtime stories etc.
11- Set clear goals. Setting specific and measurable goals gives you the best chance to transform how you work and live, both long-term and short-term.
12- Focus on results, not time spent. Rather than thinking about working harder, focus your time and energy on achieving bigger results. By focusing on a smaller number of projects and delivering maximum impact.
13- Unplug from technology. Technology is one of the major culprits behind people not learning to relax. It is us who give the power to technology to subjugate us to the extent that it becomes a compulsion.
